And Now The Story of the Web

Well luckily there was another father figure in the room. The very father, who had seeded the calendar package and other invisible magical scripts, a wise man - quite a respectable magician. "Legends" he said quietly "you are creating Legends". Ah Legends they both agreed in unison. "Well there are four of the sections" the mother said: "EarthSpirit, Gatherings, Connections, and Legends; but what do we do with the Transitions section? We had hoped it would announce births and handfastings, but it seems to be focused on the passing of friends beyond the veil into death." "What about calling it Ancestors" the second father said. "That works, that's it" the others cheered "now we have a new pattern for our child."

So the mother took the pattern and began to make new clothes. She took green from the leaves for the EarthSpirit section, and yellow from the Sun for Connections. Blue from the Ocean honored the tears shed as our cherished Ancestors depart, and red for Gatherings from the fires of physical contact. For Legends, she chose her favorite color, black, the color of the unknown and the mysteries.

She built and cut and coded day after day, night after night. One hundred and sixty-four pages, hundreds of images and a multitude of e-mails later; she saw the shape becoming whole. She even added a WebMap for new visitors and to make easy navigation for all.

Then, just as she was almost ready to show the new pruned and clothed vision of their child, the fathers came to her and said "It needs to be moved to a new home." "Where?" she asked. "In California" they replied. "But I am in Boston, how will I care for it so far away?" she cried. "Do not worry," they told her "we will help you move it, and give you a little black dog called 'Fetch' to help you mother our child." "But I was hoping to have it seen for the first time on Beltane, when the veils are thin so that the ancestors and fey folk might give it their blessings." she sighed. "We will have it done by Beltane" stated the first father. And she knew it would be so.

They worked hard and long and even covered the new look in "tar" so that it would travel well. Travel it did, April 30th on lines of fire and spirit through Cyberspace coast to coast, from Boston all of the way to California. When it arrived there was a little dust and a little shape adjustment, but the brave new pattern had been built well and it stood the trip. The family was proud, while they tested and tweaked the new shape in its new home.

An then - on May 1st, 1997 - on Beltane, the new EarthSpirit Web redesign and relocation was announced to the world of Cyberspace and beyond. It is there for you to see it at http://www.earthspirit.com and it is still growing in its new shape, changing almost every week.

Come visit, come browse, there is much to see and learn at the EarthSpirit Web.
