Looks like it's going to be a relatively quiet summer, celestially speaking. There'll be the usual routine events -- New and Full Moons monthly; the fast-moving, inner planets changing signs in their usual way; planets turning direct and planets turning retrograde. Same old same old. Nothing Big. So I think I'll take this opportunity to clue you in on a routine event that happens every couple of days: the Void of Course Moon. A planet is "void of course" (VOC) when it makes the last major aspect it's going to make in the sign it's in. This lame-duck VOC Moon has completed her activities in this sign, but she's still hanging around. This happens every 2-3 days as the Moon changes signs. Projects initiated during this period tend not to thrive. It's an ending time, not a beginning time -- a good time to clean house and throw things away. Clean your mental house too; this interval is excellent for psychotherapy, meditation and other "non-productive" activities. And there's no reason not to carry on with your work, as long as you stick to routine and Don't Start Anything. The key phrase here seems to be "no result". For example, every time I buy clothes during a VOC Moon, they hang in the closet collecting dust. On the other hand, Moon-watchers have reported that they like to mail their tax returns during this time, as "no result" can also mean "no audit". A lunar VOC period can last anywhere from a few seconds to almost three days. It all depends on the speed of the Moon's orbit, its position in the Zodiac, and the positions of the Sun and the planets. The Moon's VOC periods for August and September are listed below.
